Responsibilities & Duties

• Ensure that new officers receive sufficient training that will enable them to perform their job in accordance with the Department’s S.O.P.
• Ensure that new officers are capable of passing the F.T.O. test prior to the new officer being assigned and individual shift
• Ensure that Patrol Officers perform their job in accordance with the Department’s S.O.P.
• Ensure that the quality of the Patrol Officers’ work continues to improve.
• Ensure that officers report to work on time and when scheduled.
• Create and post a bi-weekly schedule that allows sufficient patrol coverage.
• Recommend disciplinary action to the Chief of Police for any patrol or reserve officer for any act in which disciplinary action is warranted.
• Coordinate training for the department 
• Set an example for the Patrol Officers by displaying high standards in job performance and appearance.
• Must adhere to Absentee Shawnee Tribe Personnel Policies and Drug and Alcohol Policies
• Perform normal patrol duties as needed.
• Maintain Communication with the Chief of Police About the on goings of the Patrol Division.
• Perform all other tasks as assigned by the Chief of Police.

Qualifications

• Must possess High School diploma or G.E.D.
• Must be C.L.E.E.T. or B.I.A. certified
• Must have four or more years of Law Enforcement Experience
• Must have two or more years of experience as a supervisor.
• Must be able to pass a drug test for pre-employment for the Tribe.
• Must have a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License. 
• Must be able to pass a background check. 

• Should enjoy working outdoors, in all weather conditions; 
• Be practical and hard-working; 
• Have diligence; 
• Have mechanical aptitude; 
• Have organizational ability; 
• Have the ability to endure isolation and limited social contact; 
• Have good physical strength and stamina; 
• Be independent, responsible and self-disciplined; 
• Ability to lift 50lbs. 
• Sitting or standing or walking for long period of time; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping; good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions; talking hearing and visual acuity.
