General Description
The primary responsibilities of the Director of Support Care Services include the direction and supervision of department employees within RN Case Management and Social Services. This role supports continuity of patient care through collaboration with RN Case Managers, Social Services, the Patient Advocate, Transportation, and other service departments to positively impact the overall patient experience. Responsibilities also include leading practice improvements within supervised departments, as well as the development and revision of related policies, procedures, and workflows. The Director maintains collaborative and synergistic relationships with the Business Office, Patient Registration, Electronic Health Records, Health Information Management (HIM), Medical Director, Director of Nursing, Patient Benefits Advisors, Patient Advocate, Transportation, Providers and staff, Public Health, and Contract Health. These partnerships foster teamwork and support efficient patient flow throughout the health system. Strong leadership and analytical skills are essential in this role, along with proficiency in computer systems and various software applications. The Director of Support Care Services also serves as a liaison between departmental staff and operational leadership to ensure effective communication and alignment of goals.
Responsibilities & Duties
  • Facilitate positive communication and foster strong working relationships among clinic staff to promote teamwork and collaboration.
  • Oversee organizational and administrative functions, including identifying and responding to complaints involving the Health System, employees, and Providers. Manage and/or assist with investigations to promote patient and staff safety; collaborate with the Patient Advocate regarding complaints, concerns, and grievances; communicate with Quality, Safety, and Risk departments to monitor trends and identify improvement opportunities; recommend, implement, and evaluate corrective actions; maintain working knowledge of organizational programs; and participate in multidisciplinary teams, standing workgroups, councils, and committees as assigned.
  • Establish clear performance goals and expectations, and conduct performance evaluations to ensure accountability and professional development.
  • Develop annual objectives, action plans, and departmental budgets, as appropriate.
  • Monitor benchmark data to identify trends, detect performance variations, and implement corrective measures as needed.
  • Collaborate across departments to support and enhance overall patient satisfaction and experience. Other duties as assigned by supervisor or Executive Director.
Education Requirements and Qualifications
Education and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; additional degree in Healthcare Management, or business related field preferred.
  • Current RN licensure in the state of Oklahoma.
  • Education and experience substituted for above requirements require approval by the Executive Director.
  • Working knowledge of reimbursement regulations and payment structures, including Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, and Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs).
  • Must be able to work alongside other RN Case Managers, and fulfilling the responsibilities and duties of a Case Manager, as defined in the Case Manager Job Description.
  • Competent in Health Informatics Body of Knowledge and Practice.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of organization, administration, fiscal and personnel management.
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory requirement related to the functional area.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct and interpret qualitative and quantitative analysis, financial analysis, healthcare economics and business processes, information systems, organizational development, health care delivery systems, project management or new business development.
  • Ability to work collaboratively alongside RN Case Managers and fulfill the responsibilities and duties of a Case Manager, as outlined in the Case Manager Job Description.
  • Ability to manage, organize, prioritize, multi-task and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to provide leadership and influence others.
  • Ability to foster effective working relationships and build consensus.
  • Ability to mediate and resolve complex problems and issues.
  • Must be CPR/BLS Certified and current.
  • Must be computer literate required (Windows operating systems – Microsoft Word, Excel). 
  • Must have a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • This position will have constant contact with employees, patients, families and visitors.  The director will work with other healthcare facilities and offices as needed. This position will travel in all weather conditions, there is potential for exposures to infectious diseases including AIDS, Hepatitis B, and other viruses.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Occasional squatting, kneeling, stooping, or bending may be required; good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions; talking hearing and visual acuity
