In a joint meeting, on January 22, 2018, between the Executive Committee, the Election Commission and the potential candidates of the upcoming election, a decision was made that the Primary Election on March 17, 2018 will not be held this year. The decision was made because there were no more than two (2) candidates running for the positions due for election this year. All candidates were advanced to the June Run Off Election which will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018, as required by the Absentee Shawnee Tribal Constitution.
